Microsoft Excel ribbon is the row of rows and tabs found at the top of the Excel window, enabling faster use and understanding of commands for easier task completion. However, the ribbon contains groups, dialog launchers, command buttons, and tabs. Ribbon tabs include; Layout, View Insert, Design, Home, among others.
With customization, it can occur by renaming, adding custom tabs, or changing the default tabs order in the office.
First, to customize ribbons, you need to open the "Customize the Ribbon" window, as explained below. First, begin by opening the app that needs to be customized in the ribbon, such as Excel. Then on Customize the Ribbon, right-click in any space in the ribbon. Once the above steps are done, ribbon customization can now occur, as discussed below.
Custom tabs and Default order change.
1. Right-click on the tab that needs to be moved in the Customize the Ribbon list. Click the Customize the Ribbon window. For example, let's customize "Review"
2. Use the down and up arrows after selecting and highlighting the tab that needs to be moved to change location.
3. Keep clicking on the Move Down or Move-Up arrow until the right order intended is achieved.
4. Click OK to save and see changes.
Rename a custom tab
1. Click the tab that needs to be renamed in the Customize the Ribbon list. Click the Customize the Ribbon window.
2. Type a new name after Clicking on Rename.
3. Save your changes to be able to view them by clicking OK.
Custom groups can either be renamed or added to Change the defaults group order.
Adding a custom group to a tab
It can be added to either a default tab or a custom group.
1. Check and select the tab that should be added to the group in the Ribbon window. Click customize ribbon
2. Select the New Group.
3. Right-click on the new group and click on Rename. Then type the new name.
Alternatively, an icon can be used to represent the custom group.
4. Right-click on the group followed by hiding Command Labels for hiding command labels added to the custom group.
5. click OK to save the changes.
Default group replacement with a custom group
Microsoft Office inbuilt commands cannot be removed from a group. You can, however, replace the default group with a custom group made with the changes.
1. Click the default tab where the custom group should be added in the Customize the Ribbon List under the Customize the Ribbon window.
2. Select the New Group.
3. Click on Rename after Right-clicking up.
4. When the ribbon is resized, choose the icon and a name to represent the new group
5. Select main tabs from the option list of Choose Commands.
6. Click the plus sign (+) next to the default tab containing the group you want to customize.
7. Click the plus sign (+) next to the default group you want to customize.
8. Click Add after selecting the command that should be added to the custom group.
9. Right-click the default group, and click Remove.
